Victor Ryzhakov

Theater stage director and pedagogue. Artistic director of the Meyerhold Theater Center, course instructor at Moscow Art Theater School.

Viktor had completed his studies at the Far East Institute of Arts, Shchukin Theater School, and graduate school of the Russian Theater Academy.

Between 1991 and 2001, he worked in Moscow Youth Theater under the tutelage of G. Yanovskaya and K. Ginkas.

In 1993, he became one of the organizers and the artistic director of the first independent theater festival at Sochi, called “Theater in Search for Theater.”

Between 1995 and 2001, he was also the artistic director of Kamchatka Drama and Comedy Theater. In 2000, together with the actors of Kamchatka theater, Viktor organized international theater project “Patrol No. 8” that took part in numerous international festivals.

In 2001, Viktor joined Moscow Art Theater School as stage management lecturer. Took part in the graduation of the School’s first group of stage directors (2002-2005, artistic director was Kama Ginkas). He is an active participant of the joint program organized by Moscow Art Theater School and MFA program at Harvard University.

Since 2002, he is one of the founders and managers of Volodin Theater Festival “Five Evenings,” organized in St. Petersburg.

For many years, Viktor has been a close creative collaborator of playwright Ivan Vyrypaev, and has staged his plays “Oxygen”, «Existence No. 2», «Valentine’s Day», “The City Where I Am“, “July”, „Drunks”, and others.

Viktor stages productions both in Russia and abroad.
