Graduate of the first set of Moscow Art Theatre School (1943-1947, course of I. Raevsky) and at the end he was admitted to the troupe.

He made his debut on the stage of the Moscow Art Theatre in 1948 in the role of April in the performance “Twelve months“. For fifty-five years of service in the theatre he played in many performances, among them: “The second love“ (Rodion Vasiltsov), “Dombey and Son“ (Kerker), “Copper grandmother“ (Nicholas I), “Days of the Turbins“ (Thalberg), “Devil's pupil“ (Richard), “Enemies“ (Skrobotov), “The Last Ones“ (Ivan Kolomiitsev), “Pushkin“ (Danzas), “Nora“ (Krogstad), “Summerfolk” (Colon), „Three Sisters” (Kulygin), „The Lower Depths” (Baron), „Resurrection” (From Author), „Ivanov” (Lebedev), „The Brothers Karamazov” (Ivan Karamazov), „An Ideal Husband” (Lord Goring), „Uncle Vanya” (Serebryakov), „The Seagull” (Sorin).

Playing Joseph II in the performance „Amadeus” directed by M. Rozovsky.

Author and commentator of chronicles in the book „Boris G. Dobronravov” (1983). Participated in creation of the book “Actor” (1994), on E. Evstigneev. From 1985 to 2000 he worked as director of the Moscow Art Theatre Museum. Author of articles and memories about masters of the Moscow Art Theatre and films.
