Member of the Great Patriotic War. In 1951-1956 worked in the Vladimir Regional Drama Theatre named after A. Lunacharsky.
He graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1959 (course of B. Stanitsyn) and was adopted by a troupe of the Moscow Sovremennik Theatre.
In 1961, he entered the troupe of the Moscow Art Theatre. Played in such performances as: The Kremlin chimes (Kazanok), I see the sun (Teacher), Serious charge (Ivan Kapitonovich), Dulcinea del Toboso (Sancho Panza), Steelworkers (Van Vanych), Old New year (Vasya), The Duck Hunt (Sayapin), The Carriage (Judge),The Golovlevs (Father), Superfly (Zworykin), Boris Godunov (Pimen), Crime and Punishment ( Marmeladov), The Storm (Shapkin), And the light is shining from the dark… (Joiner), The Marriage (Zhevakin), Sanctimonious persons' Kabala (Just shoemaker), etc.
